Given that British Gas Homecare cannot honour their insurance, is that a breach of contract

You've been paying over £200 a year and then still had to pay £60 each for 2 call outs???
What do you get for your money?
Think of this as a blessing. Call British Gas to cancel your contract, if there is a notice period tell them you want it waived as they are not able to visit.
Then call out a local gas engineer for any issues you have.
Put aside £18 a month into a separate account to cover any costs you have for fixing your boiler in the future.2 -

Why not? They're still working. Getting things fixed is allowed.Moneyineptitude said:

Random engineer to your home? They pick up Covid19 while there or introduce it to your home.davidmcn said:

It is also possible to be a mechanical problem. I had a similar issue and it was down to a seized motorised valve.shaun_from_Africa said:Personally, I would suggest calling Britidh Gas again and insist that they log it as an emergency repair.
If the heating is coming on despite the thermostat being set to off/low, the timer not set and the main power switch being turned off, it must be an electrical problem somewhere, something that needs sorting out as soon as possible.
They are not carrying non emergency work but are still visiting for urgent repairs.1 -
Is it more or less risky than buying food and other items, even online?Moneyineptitude said:

It's not like a gas engineer is going to be raking through your home. They'll likely touch the boiler and not much else. Squirt of handgel & cleaning surfaces takes care of any remnants.
Plus this might last well into next year. The economy cannot afford to be down now, never mind in 6 months time. Businesses are going to have to find & develop ways to continue to operate while minimising any risk with social distancing, protective equipment, stagging shifts so less staff are in at one time etc.You keep using that word. As an aside, I have to say I like the fact the OP has received replies from 12 different people but only 5 votes on the poll. I dislike questions with limited predefined answers because it never gives an accurate reflection of what people actually think, only what they would choose out of those options. You keep using that word. They are indeed, but anyone who thinks the pandemic is over as soon as the lockdown is lifted is sadly deluded.unholyangel said:. Why is a independent Gas Safe fitter (random!) any more likely to be infectious that a random British Gas one?Moneyineptitude said:
