Tax on interest in a joint account

probably a silly question,
But would I need to pay tax on interest from money within a joint account?

E.g I'm a HRTP so I have a 500 allowance however my partner is BRTP so her allowance is 1000 but we both put all of our money into joint accounts?

To confuse things more, I then have my own Marcus account so how do I need to incorporate/allow this interest?

TIA

Joint account interest is split 50/50.
Anything in you own name is your interest,

As a basic rate taxpayer your wife has the potential to have the first £5,999 of her taxable interest all taxed at 0%.

That figure is gradually reduced as her taxable wages/pension/profits/rental income etc goes over £12,500 and only drops to £1,000 if she is paying basic rate tax on £5,000 or more of her wages/pension etc.

If you are liable to the High Income Child Benefit Charge or have adjusted net income in excess of £100k you need to be aware that the £500 interest you will pay tax at 0% on (it's not actually an "allowance") will mean you pay more HICBC or could have a further reduced Personal Allowance.
