Desperate help needed! My employer has rejected furlough request

It's a really tough situation, and I completely get it - my partner is a nurse in a care home, and they're struggling to find enough staff.
I'm guessing they don't want to shell out for the holiday pay and other costs when they gain nothing from furlough, so it's just easier to leave you unpaid - but unfortunately furlough is option on the part of the employer so ultimately it's their call.

Can you not manage financially despite taking the mortgage holiday break?0

If you or your husband is classed as a key worker (I think you should be) then can you not access childcare at a local nursery? Not ideal but may be a last resort?0
