Big Trees in neighbours garden

If your actions destabilise the tree then that could open you up to legal/criminal action. Probably more so for a large tree if you did it without getting advice from a tree expert0

Thanks to everyone who commented. I'm not concerned about branches but about potential damage to my house from a large tree so close.
My neighbours won't do anything - I had an arboraculturalist's report on another tree at the front which is even closer to my house. The report confirmed that there was likelihood of damage to my house and that the tree should be removed or at least periodically coppiced. They coppiced once, and the tree is now worse than ever. The wife wants to keep it as it is. Their own frontage (and rear garden) look like Miss Havisham would be living inside.
Oh well, thank you, all.0
