Deposit on Credit Card - does this cover whole holiday?

I paid the deposit for a cruise with P&O on credit card last year, and the time has come to pay the remainder. P&O are not taking credit card payments at present because the providers have put the fees up on them. I told them I want to pay the rest of the money on credit card so I am insured. They said that because I paid for the deposit on credit card, the whole holiday is covered. Is this true? I have tried calling the credit card provider, but they are only taking calls on emergencies.

Yes , if you paid at least £100 on the credit card it's all protected

In fact, it is even simpler than that, if the sale price is over £100, and a P & O Cruise clearly falls into that category, you need only pay a £1 on the credit card for the whole purchase to be protected. I would be tempted at this stage to suggest to them as they have changed the terms (you could have been using a card to spread the payments which you can't do if you pay by bank transfer) you want to delay paying the final balance on the basis there is a serious prospect of the cruise being cancelled and then not being offered an immediate refund. It is certainly worth a try!
