Asda Order Amending Policy

I am practising what I call cascade shopping. I do small orders every few days for delivery. If I get what I want in Delivery A, I take it off Delivery B. I'm having problems getting organic tomatoes, cucumber and celery but that may just be the weather.1

Does ASDA sponsor the cookery game show where guests bring a random selection of items and challenge the chef to make a decent meal out of them?
The rate of substitutions and non-availability does seem to be too high, up to 16% on some of my deliveries. Not really acceptable, particularly now that covid panic buying is over.
The randomness of what is available one moment and not the next, or fails to turn up at the door, continues to baffle me.
Whilst most of the substitutions are reasonable and get used up one way or another, I have been seriously let down on some items that were ordered for specific reasons and timing.
With ASDA orders you must have a Plan B in mind.
Also, as has been pointed out, substitutes to the same cost value but only half the quantity can be annoying.
On the plus side, ASDA have been fair and efficient in refunding the cost of my unacceptable substitutions and their occasional substandard items, with or without returning them.
And you can play the game of saving a few pence by ordering the cheapest and hoping to get an upgrade!

You can mark your account to not have any subs, at ASDA. I think Morrisons is even worse at the moment. If you open the front door they refuse to take the subs back.0

At least Asda & Sainsbury let you know thru emails before goods arrive if getting a sub. Tesco just tell you when delivering or collecting which is awkward as you have to think fast. Especially if you need to know ingredients. Sainsbury price match sub with voucher.
Asda just price match. Tesco price match but can be crafty if you order 2 of something as 1 sub can be price of your 2 items !
Beware. Had this with antibac spray. Ordered 2 Tesco got 1 Dettox twice the single Tesco price but not matched to the single price item as I asked for 2.
So it went back.

Iceland email ahead too, although afaik there isn't an option to reject and send back. When they have substituted it's been very close and never a lesser pack. Had 800g same brand bread sent in place of 400g and 6 larger pork pies from same brand instead of 4 small.
I also wish Tesco give advance notification.
Always best to check subs, did have a value pizza replaced with a Goodfellas so can work the other way too.1
