Seems an odd question but travel insurance protects you from costs associated with cancelled or holidays issues.

If a holiday is cancelled due to COVID or FCO then you can claim the flights and hotels etc. Can you claim for the cost of the insurance f a single trip you no longer need?

Has anyone tried this ?

You hit a catch 22. If you use your insurance to claim back your insurance then you will have used it so not entitled to a refund

But you are using your travel insurance to claim back the cost of your holiday etc. as has been stated so why should they reimburse you?

No. Not claiming the cost. That’s the point. No claim as was cancelled and refunded so not needed ....

In fairness the replies you received are based on a confusing first post. It appeared from the wording that you wished to claim on the insurance for the flights, hotel etc.

With holiday insurance you are insured from the time you take the policy out until after your holiday so your insurance has been quietly in force since you bought it, covering you for whatever it says it does, ie if you had to cancel due to illness.

Not sure that’s a fair statement either. The post is clearly a statement then a question. Seems pretty clear. But thanks for the input.
