Prior to the Coronavirus outbreak I had booked a couple of flights on credit cards. I have paid back the money so the cards have zero balance. When I receive the money back will I be able to transfer this money to my current account without charge?

As long as you ask them to send it to you, yes.
If you withdraw it or do a money transfer, then no.0 -
Do I need to do this before it hits my account?0

Once the credit is showing on your account, you can call and request that they transfer the credit balance to your current account.

I did this today for my refunded flight which came through a week ago, just phoned the card provider who agreed instantly to transfer the amount I was in credit by to my current account! However a bit concerned that my travel operator who has finally also agreed a refund is not automatically refunding to the credit card I paid with but is asking for sort code and account number of account I want the refund in..? Is this legal? Could it be seen as money laundering?! Should I be grateful or suspicious they are not just refunding to the original payment method..?

I'm waiting for refund of payments for a cruise cancelled by Fred Olsen Cruises. Deposit was paid on husband's credit card, which has since expired; balance paid on my credit card - still in date. FOC have requested husband's bank account details to refund deposit, so I assume it must be legal. Could this explain why?0
