BMW 3 Series - Driving stability drive moderately

Hi All,

A few days ago the following lights flashed up on my 2010 BMW 3 Series.
‘Driving stability - drive moderately’ followed by the ABS light and tyre moniter failure. The car has been serviced and had a new battery in the last 3 months and all was fine.

Our normal garage is currently closed and I don’t want to take it to another one we don’t know or trust to be ripped off!

The lights don’t stay on continuously they come on for a few seconds then go off and sometime I can drive without them coming on at all.

Could it just be a computer or sensor problem?

Thanks,
Lorna

    Yes, it could.

What I'd suspect it's telling you is that the electronic alphabetti-spaghetti bottom-wipers are having an off day. No ABS, ESP, TC.
Don't drive beyond the limits of the grip that you've got, and you'll not find any difference.
Drive like an idiot, and it'll behave like cars used to before Metal Mickey came to your rescue whenever you did anything silly.

Find some wet roundabouts as a matter of urgency.

If you have not been using the car much in lock down it could be as simple as low battery voltage causing the electronics to play up.

Do you own a multimeter to check the voltage.

Your assumption that, just because you are not familiar with a particular garage, that they will rip you off is flawed.  Cowboys are the exception - not the norm.  If at any point you feel the car is unsafe it would be prudent to get it looked at.

And of course, unless you're on the track you should be "driving moderately" anyway, whether you have a BMW, or a 1955 Ford 100E.
