Please note: I have no idea why the system keeps splitting/merging this thread as Expedia and Jet2. My question is regarding Expedia and easyJet.

Does anyone have advice about what to do regarding easyJet return flights booked via Expedia?

I received a flight cancellation email from easyJet on Monday for my flight on 2nd May; I have yet to receive any communication from Expedia regarding the cancellation.

My first assumption was that because I booked via Expedia I would need to contact them to review my options. However, out of curiosity I also looked at the easyJet online Help Hub - the first question asks if you booked via a third party (which I did) but the second question asks if it was Expedia.

If you say no then it tells you to contact the travel agent. If you select yes, it takes you to the options for rebooking/vouchers/refund.

So my question is whether I should wait for Expedia to advise me on what to do or whether I should submit my request directly via the easyJet website?

Part of me is tempted to submit a refund request via the easyJet hub while the option still exists.

Who billed you for the flights? I have a feeling that with some airlines booked on Expedia, the airline bill you directly.  It may be that easyJet and Expedia have an agreement where Expedia do not act as agent for their flights booked on there.

easyJet obviously ask that question for a reason and if they're giving you the options then I'd just go with it.

That's so annoying - I already removed my post from one that was automatically changed from easyJet to Jet2 and now it's happened again!

It's a good question - Expedia charged me for the accomodation but there was a separate item on my card statement from easyJet for the flights.

I think I'll go down the route of applying directly, despite my Expedia account showing the flights are still scheduled to fly.

Hmmm, it's a bit strange that.  As I suspected easyJet charged you directly for flights.  However as you purchased flights and accommodation together then that should be considered a package.  With a package you are protected under the regulations for a full refund of both flights and accommodation.  Might be worth getting confirmation from Expedia that they are refunding your hotel before proceeding with the flight refund.

Well, I actually cancelled the hotel via Expedia prior to the full lockdown and changing FCO advice - we discovered that our travel insurance wouldn't cover us with the events that were unfolding and, while we still had a self-service option to receive 100% of the accommodation costs, we went ahead with that option (~80% of the holiday cost, which we have received).

Does this complicate matters, or is the fact that I booked as a package all that matters?

That probably simplifies it.  if you've cancelled the hotel for a refund, and have received it then that's fine.  You could now go ahead and claim refund from easyJet directly - given they charged you anyway then your contract is with them.
