Ebay scam - license key

Options
Hi.
In December 2019 I purchased a license key for some audio production software off ebay. This is not uncommon, and I checked with the software company that it was legal etc. The seller transferred the license to me, I started using the software and all was good. The other day however, I open the software to find it's been deauthorised. Apparently the seller had reversed THEIR original payment on the software, so the company had removed that product - despite it having been transferred to me.

I assume from this that I have been scammed. The software allows me to do my job and my livelihood is already on a knife edge (musician/covid/etc)

What is the best way to go forward? I have contacted the seller twice who is still operating on ebay (though selling carpets, not license keys now), in case it was an innocent mistake, but have had no response.

I am out of the 90 day period, so cannot report the item to ebay - I could report the seller but I don't think that would help me get my money back and might make them disappear.

I am trying to get my payment reversed via my bank but I think it could be a problem as it's such an old payment now.

Any advice?
Thanks in Advance,
Amy

Have you contacted the software company? You said the Seller had transferred the licence to you, the software company said it was legal, so I would hope they can help you.
Is the eBay Seller registered as a Business Seller? Can you see a contact telephone number for them?
    Good luck.

You can report via paypal as you have 180 days although im not sure if license keys are in that or not. worth checking though

There is no 90 day period - you are confusing yourself.

There is, as has been pointed out above, a 180 day period for which you can open a SNAD significantly not as described case in Paypal, assuming your item is eligible.  At first glance it would appear that software licences are specifically included.

If it were me, I would open a SNAD and site the reason - the license is not authorised and include a screenshot showing the licence number sold and the fact it is de-authorised.  I would not add any other waffle or give too much detail unless asked.
