Returning home during lockdown?

On first day of lockdown I moved in with daughter, son in law and grand children. I have my own self contained flat within sheltered housing 3 miles away. Can I return to my flat for rest of lockdown? Communal entrance but all else private and self contained.

I'd say yes if it's safe to do so.

My mums in a similar sheltered place , they only ask that no visitors come in .

Yes, this was advised on a BBC Questions Answered bulletin. If you are just moving yourself and a small amount of personal items in bags from one front door to another. akin to a student returning home from uni.

Grateful for answers I received when first posted but no definitive answer so trying again.

I don't see any reasons why that wouldn't be allowed.

There are no definitive answers - it's a judgement call. Personally I see no reason not to if you will then be able to manage your affairs once you are on your own.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Onwards&upwards: The answers I got were opinions. My family will not release me! Kids are best part but I've been on my own 15 years. Seven weeks in someone elses house is not for me.

  • Yes, you'd be allowed, you'd just be returning home.  Can your daughter drive you there, so you don't need to worry about catching anything on public transport?

There isn't a rule for every individual set of circumstances so the answers are interpretations of the rules - that's the best you can get.
Perhaps if you say why exactly your children don't want to 'release' you, ie how they see things, there might be some more answers for you.
I don't see anything wrong - its your own home.
