What Is It That People Don't Understand About The Arrows On Supermarket Floors ?

They've just changed the arrows in my local Asda. They were thick and black, and standard arrow shape, but now they are skinny and mid-green and shaped just like this >.
People had problems following them before, so they are certainly going to now. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
If I need to go up a down arrow aisle, I walk backwards so others don't realise I'm going the wrong way.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.6

My local Asda has got two aisles together with arrows facing the same way. I find there are staff blocking the aisles chatting with each other and not following the arrows themselves - but as I've heard a member of staff say "it's different for us because we're working!". I exited an aisle going the right way and a woman collided with me as she came round the corner going the wrong way. Proceeded to give me a dirty look and didn't like it when I said something to her.

It took me til 3/4 of the way round to notice the arrows the first time I came across them! I simply didn't look at the ground. It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.2 -
Possibly for the same reason some don't understand what the arrows are for in a car park?

I would've said that I'm reasonably bright, but the arrows in Tesco confused the heck out of me the first time I went in. The problem? Not every aisle had arrows, and there were some where two aisles next to each other had arrows pointing the same way, so you'd go up aisle A, and not be able to go straight down aisle B!
At least in One Stop and Co-op they've blocked the ends of aisles off so you had to follow it through, but appreciate supermarkets are probably too big to do that for health and safety reasons. Seems Ikea had the right idea all along!0 -
In my Tesco there is usually a queue at the end of the last aisle to get to a checkout so paying at the automatic till is much quicker and no queue.0

Agree about staff not following the arrows, heard one say to a complaining customer they didn’t need to as they are staff. But I would like to be doing their job at the moment so good luck to them, it’s a shame they couldn’t do this when stores are shut, for their safety. Also why don’t they have no entry signs or this way signs at the end of the aisles to help.1
