Enfield Council Drop Kerb Fees

Hi
I wanted to know if anyone that has conducted a recent drop kerb on there property to allow for vehicular access could tell me a rough guide for the costs
I have looked online and I have to pay £190 just for them to survey and give me a quote. This seems bizzare to only generate a quote, considering if you do not wish to proceed.

Also am I to understand that the councils are monopolising, in simply being able to be the sole organisation allowed to do, thus setting rocket high prices.

It is the council's kerb, and you are the one wanting to change it.
Seems entirely reasonable that they charge for quotes (why should other tax payers subsidise your home improvements?)- whether £190 is reasonable is a different issue, but you don't have much choice.

Also the council will not do the work, they normally sub it out to one of their approved contractors

Why not look at the Enfield Council charges page?
Looks like a 4 metre drop will cost you about  £1200 plus  cost of any additional work plus the £195 but until the coronavirus is over they wont be accepting any applications.
