No claims bonus expiry and renewal

I had accrued several years of no claims discount when I stopped driving 21 months ago. I am aware that my no claims is due to expire after 24 months and would like to ensure I keep my current accrued years.
Is there a minimum amount of time I must purchase a new insurance policy with? Or would insuring myself for a day/month fulfil requirement of driving every 2 years to maintain the bonus.
