Vehicle tax and CV extended MOT

Hi, just wondered if anyone else had this - tried to contact DVLA but they don't have staff on at the moment:
Our car was due to be MOT'd 31/3/2020, but of course wasn't. The "check your MOT" shows it's been extended to October. Great! But we got a letter today saying that the vehicle tax direct debit cannot automatically renew because I don't have a MOT test certificate. Obvs I cannot get one. Will the two systems marry up after a few days or do I need to go back and put the tax on "manually", does anyone know? I don't want to pay twice, and I don't want to not pay at all!
TIA

Are all the test centres near you fully booked or closed then?

This has happened to a few people. That letter will have been sent in advance of April 1st (and before the extension was applied). It should have gone through now, so check your tax status online.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

My MOT was due a few days ago and has now been extended 6 months (checked on GOV.uk).
I’d be interested to know your outcome as I’m intending putting my car on SORN next week .0 -
Thank you Facade, I didn't know about that website. It is showing up as taxed, so presumably if the money doesn't go through on 1 May I will know to pay at that point.0

I take it you are on monthly DD. Have they taken the money for April? Just keep an eye on your bank account for the debits, and check your tax status, all done with a few clicks on the interweb, and it will keep you worry free.
