Hastings Direct Renewal

Hi all.
I've been driving for 3 years and have been with Hastings since day 1. Usually when my renewal comes around (19th May), I'll do the usual few comparison quotes and give them a ring. Problem now is that they're have stricter phone rules (after spending the best part of the day to speak to someone) so just looking for some guidance.
I've been offered a renewal which is a £50 increase on last year. I went on CtM and there quotes from Hastings for £200-£300 less than this (with accurate details entered). What I want to know is if I accept one of these and go through to the Hasting's website and complete my purchase - will it override my original policy renewing with the new policy rather than my existing one or will I end up being charged for both policies for the same vehicle because I haven't explicitly "cancelled" my existing policy?
Thanks - I hope this makes sense.

You would need to confirm to Hastings you are not renewing your policy when it expires.
Do not say you want to cancel your policy as potentially they could do that while you are on the phone and you end up uninsured.
Then take out the new policy in readiness for when your old one ends.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
When you phone Hastings to ask them not to renew, they will ask you why. When you tell them that you have a quote for £300 less from themselves on CtM it is highly likely they will match it. If there is a cheaper quote from a different company tell them that as well and they might offer to match it.0
