Bottle Trap vs normal sink waste?

Can anyone tell me what the pros and cons are of a bottle trap vs a normal sink waste for a full size kitchen sink, both with a dishwasher/washing machine connection?
We are considering installing a bottle trap with a connector under our kitchen sink, but we've only ever seen them below small cloakroom sinks.
I've looked online and found one or two references to bottle traps not draining as fast and not blocking smells but that may be down to the size used or brand I guess.
Many thanks.

Bottle traps are popular as they are more compact. But for kitchen sinks they can block up easier with food debris etc.

I'd not install a bottle trap under a bathroom sink for the reasons mentioned above.

You can't buy a bottle trap with a washing machine connection

A few companies make bottle traps with washing machine connectors including FloPast, Wirquin etc

Apologies my mistake I have never seen those generally speaking unless they are some weird things from abroad, would I fit one under the kitchen sink ? Not a chance

On the other hand, they can be easier to clean out when blocked, as the entire bottom of the 'bottle' comes off in one go.

Thanks to everyone for your comments.  You have given me some things to think about and discuss with the plumber which is really helpful.
  • Just to mix things up a bit I bought a low profile trap with spigot and it works a treat,

We had a bottle trap in our bathroom which was a complete pain as the shape of the pedestal made it very difficult to reach the bottle trap to take the trap off and it kept blocking up. We had it replaced with a normal u bend arrangement in the end and never had a problem again. Would never choose a bottle/P shaped trap again.
