Postgraduate masters students and tuition fee recompense

Options
For undergraduate students, tuition fees will not be waived due to the provision of teaching materials online ( yet the cost of an Open University degree is remarkedly cheaper). Anyhow, for postgraduate research students who were in the middle of their research projects as part of an MRes or MSc have had to halt their lab work due to Covid-19 and now undertake a piece of writing in place of the research experience.  Postgraduate students only receive one loan ( which is meant to cover tuition fees and maintenance, and if you're in London, there is a large shortfall). I have got in touch with my university help service and am waiting for a reply. Paying in excess of £13000 for a course,  where minimal lab experience was gained during the period of Feb-March before labs closed, feels like money has been thrown in the fire. Given that securing jobs often depends on having the "experience", job prospects aren't looking too great either. If anybody has any advice or knows of somebody who has had a response from their university regarding recompense for postgraduate students who research projects have gone out of the window, please post. Thank-you
