I bought an HP stream laptop just before lockdown in preparation. Little did I know that the internal systems take up all do the storage/memory, so we can’t even download any apps. I finally got in touch with curry’s via live chat and she said I can’t return it as it’s been opened and used. How can I see if it’s fit for purpose without setting it up. I dont’t Want a refund, I just want an exchange for a better one? Can someone help? I’ve been waiting on customer service phone line for 1hr 40mins (twice) and can’t actually speak to anyone. Totally understand these are unprecedented times but I’m struggling to get the kids work done without one?
Please help??

How much gb is the memory?. Seems very strange, internal systems do take up some memory, ut theres usually loads left.1

If you think there's even the faintest risk that you might want to return something for any reason, never buy from Curry's.Rather than spend hours on the phone to them, you'd be better spending the time trying to sort the problem - I very much doubt it's how HP designed it to work.1

What's the exact model number?
It probably has only 32GB eMMC storage ... once Windows 10 is loaded, and any updates applied, then the storage space is pretty much wiped out. This is a well-known issue.0 -
Did you realise when you bought it that is designed to be used with the cloud? Have you activated the 1tb One Drive?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I'd suggest buying an external hdd. You've got 1 usb2 and 2 usb3 ports. The latter are pretty fast.
I know Domestos kills 99% of germs, but I'm worried about the 1% that got away.0 -
Can you install "apps" to an external drive?0

How/why did you choose to purchase a stream? Was it online or in store?

The HP Stream notebooks have an integrated MicroSD card slot. So buy a memory card to add extra memory.Life in the slow lane1

Replace Windows with Ubuntu. This is not a bash Windows / Linux is brilliant post, but on a basic machine like the HP that the OP has, they're likely to have a more responsive experience with Ubuntu - which, for the lay person, is great for browser based life.1
