Morning all.
Another hot sunny day down here on the continent. I love to see it and even sit out in it for a short while, but I'm not a lover of hot weather. I hardly like to say it, but I'm happier in Autumn and Winter. I do a good cosy. Perhaps I'm a sloth crossed with a mole.
Gers and ScarletRibbons, well done both of you on getting ready for next winter. I'm just about ready for last winter but now I have to address the matter of my summer wardrobe that is still encased in vacuum bags. Come to think of it, my summer wardrobe is very much the same as my winter wardrobe, give or take a cardi or two.
Today I WILL look seriously at my ironing pile. I'll let you know if there have been any developments in that direction.
RedRuby I hope you had a comfortable night. Sleep is the great healer and I hope you get loads of it.
Nanny, when I've finished looking at my ironing I'll pop round and make your pastry. It is one of my great talents in life. I have 3. Making pastry, cutting a straight slice from a loaf of bread and telling a good story. At everything else I'm so-so or complete pants.
Good luck all you gardeners. My scrubby patch can only be looked at with half closed eyes. What I would really love is a washing line. The previous owners don't seem to have had one. There is no sign of a hole where a whirly would have been and nowhere suitable for an actual line. By the time men are back at work and someone can come and sort me out Sod's law says that the rainy season will have set in.
Enjoy the day everyone.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If the schools are closed for much longer the parents are going to find a vaccine before the scientists.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.12 -
Strange dreams indeed Ruby! So glad Gers could come to my rescue even if she was in pjs!
Monna, I have a whirly (that doesn't whirl) attached to the wall of the house. It's great, has lots of drying room and can be folded up and covered when not in use.
I've been and queued at a discount store and got some compost, enough for me and DD although no sand for the paving, that will have to stay half done!

Morning all! Again sunny and shiny outside...I very much doubt the fire will be used again so I think I'll clean that up today, as it will need a sweep this year. We've got a plan now for the area at the back. When I was excavating what earth there was around the fence panels nearest the tree, I found concrete blcks under one of them. The earth is just too full of stones to be able to use it so we'll move a builders bag to the drive and just barrow it into that until we can get a little skip to put it all in.Or just cut out the middle man and hire a skip...Then I can put another layer of conrete blocks to lift it up a bit to stop it rotting so it doesn't have to be replaced for a while longer.Had a video chat with a couple of friends last night which was nice and one of them will get her husband to fetch some tomato seedlings on his way home from work, and another friend came and picked up the seed potatoes I wasn't going to use along with a couple of chillies and gave me a couple of peppers and two bottles of beer, which I shall no doubt drink later on today.Good work Ruby glad you're back and safe...If you need any help with your arm, I expect they've already told you about the things that can happen but I doubt they told you about nerve pain, so if you get any feelings like your arm skin is burning or on fire, and normal painkillers don't work, tell them you need something for nerve pain. It took a frustrating several weeks before I got a doctor who understood what pain I was having, don't want that happening to the future Tour de France winner even if they are having weird and wonderful dreams.... Scarlet, one of my friends was telling me at the weekend she she got on her hands and knees to scrub the grout on the kitchen floor because she was waging war on that...You're in good company...Nanny, a real honest to goodness corned beef pie? Drool drool...my father used ot make them, I never have, not even once and I am very partial to them. Make me one when this over? I'll come dig out some stuff or paint strip for you...:) Nelski, be careful visiting the bins, take your anti riot gear with you...they'll have you if you're not careful....I liked your thought for the day Monna
Right, seeing as it's taken e well over an hour to write this I'm going to shift myself...Hey all reading along, hope you're doing guh guh guh GREAT as Tony would say....Waikiki Wednesday [ at Nelskis Spa retreat...]Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13 -
Morning all, well I have at least got back in. I was here very early but the site spat me out and since then I've had an unscheduled lesson in making sourdough bread which means that later on or perhaps tomorrow I will be making one with my starter when I thought DS was going to do it, oh well.
Good to see you RR, hoping you can sort out the painkillers. I had a leg cover for the shower after an op but that's obviously not going to work for the armpit. I had a cyst removed from my armpit (I wouldn't have been able to have it taken out if the consultant had been quite sure it was just a cyst but she wasn't sure) and couldn't get that wet for about 10 days, so I think I somehow washed the rest of me by detaching the shower hose. It was in very cold weather though, unlike now, not a hot time.
I am not doing anything remotely interesting so will wish you all a happy rest of the day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back11 -
Afternoon all,
Chilly here today , not helped by the east wind.......will just walk around the house and up and down the stairs.
Two washes out on the line and blowing madly, will take in later, great to have line dried washing.
Ruby, good idea to try for a nights sleep, nothing to beat sleep for recovery.
Nothing happening here, hugs to all and stay safe.

Hello all, made it back at last ! Another beautiful sunny day with a breeze, but I had to put the parasol up for Mr Fix It as he would burn under a 5w bulb
Door stripped, baking done, cooked burgers for tea and then had a nose bleed which came out of nowhere. My outdoor library was closed as I ran out of time to read in the sun, but the sun terrace was still open, Phew! managed to catch a few late afternoon rays. All this work is eating into my "challenge" time
I may take a day off from work tomorrow and just rest outdoors, only the painting to do now anyway. Seems that the army is on maneuvers again, Chinooks this time......noisy things when they fly so low over the mountain, I have never seen so much activity.Candygirl Garth was a super hero in the 40's in a comic strip, a bit like Superman (BTW it was before my time, just, but the saying stuck)Monna If you make my pastry I'll do something with your garden. I'm sure someone like taff could make you a washing line out of twigs 'n' twine or something. She's a regular Heath Robinson. Unfortunately you could sole your shoes with my pastry, so I gave up. My pastry is on a par with the scones you told me were fool proof and I still have your recipe, another epic fail
Perhaps they weren't idiot proof ? My Mum was the pastry chef, but she couldn't make a sponge or cake for toffee, but I can.Taff yes it is a real home made corned beef pie. Shall I send some through the post, slice by slice ?See you all tomorrowlove nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8
