Old Style Daily Wednesday 22 April 2020
Gers
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.

Morning folks. It's not too bright this morning. I'll be going out shortly for happy hour shopping. Apart from that...nothing else!
My new jacket arrived yesterday, great excitement, and is lovely. I dithered about buying it for a few days but I'm glad I plumped for it. I promise I'm not hoping for cold weather! One of my older ex-colleagues-!!!!!!-friend is 75 years old today. He'll be enjoying the gin parcel soon. 🤣
I hope that everyone is doing OK, especially REDRUBY though everyone is included.Happy Wednesday to all. Stay safe.14 -
Morning GERS and all to follow. Another glorious start with blue sky and sun, but I am hoping that darned easterly has eased off and I can get out in the garden again with my book.
My sack of bird seed was delivered yesterday and it's still sitting in the hall. It weighs a ton and goodness knows how I am going to get it through the kitchen to the back door and down the steps into the garage. My glass butterfly for the fence is due for delivery today - allegedly! I have been a bit messed about with that. So watch this space ....!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) aplenty for our poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Especially REDRUBY. I hope you are managing to sleep, rest and recover. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Good morning, and thanks for starting Gers.I bought a new winter jacket as well, last week, it's lovely. it was a sale bargain. I've put it away for the winter.RR, hope you are ok.Not a lot happening today, there's a little bit of ironing, and I need to alter a pair of trousers. I'll get out in the garden as well -I'm waging war on some moss at the sides of the path, but I don't want to use anything noxious, The other day I put a strong solution of washing up liquid and water on, so I'll go out with a stiff scrubbing brush and have another go at it. White vinegar did help a bit.The garden faces north so in the winter it gets very little sun, which doesn't help. I'm going to have the cleanest path in the street at this rate.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can anyway.Take care folks13

Morning All
Bright and sunny again, not a cloud in the sky! I've been awake for hours but haven't done anything of note apart from make a rather tasty onion and mushroom omelette. The washing can go on once I've been in the shower, shouldn't take long to dry today.
I sorted lots of the garden yesterday, it may be small but it certainly takes up a lot of time. I emptied a wooden container that had some strawberries in, replanted some in the strawberry tub and have quite a few to take to DD. I'm going to see if I can get some more compost as my planting has come to a standstill without it.
Pleased to hear you are on the road to recovery RR, let everyone look after you and don't go out!!
NRA, good news about your Dad, hope he too makes a speedy recovery.
TA - can you decant some of the seed into more manageable bags or tubs?
Right, off to face the day, take care. XX13 -
Morning all, yes I am up early ! I had a not very nice dream and couldn't get back to sleep. I've even had my breakfast !Last night Mr Fix It got us a Iceland slot for tomorrow, but why did he pick the unearthly hour of 6am to 8am
That's the middle of the night for me usually ! I didn't strip the whole door yesterday, just half, so I need to do the rest today. I didn't realise that there were 3 coats of paint on there and my elbow gave up the ghost half way through, even though I used the hot air gun. However I had it strapped up all night and it seems better today. As I'm up early I think I shall do some baking, a banana cake using up some sad bananas in the bowl, a corned beef pie and some sausage rolls before I venture outside. As there should be some stuff for Dad coming from Iceland, I shall take some of the pie, sausage rolls and the cake up to him tomorrow along with whatever shopping arrives. There's also some leftover beef casserole in the freezer and some sliced cooked pork for him. Later Mr Fix it will make a loaf of bread and the pastry for me, I hate making pastry, can't stand the feel of it.As Monna would say I expect several will have posted by the time I finish this. so I will return later to get all the gossip.Nelski just a heads up that I've probably moved 2 shades darker on the paint chart already....... sorry.Gers glad you like your new coat.TA you will have "arms like Garth" as my nan would say, with all this heavy work
RedRuby I hope you were able to get some sleep and the pain is minimal. Hugs.NRA I hope your Dad is ok and on the road to recovery.Take care and hugs to all.

Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those who want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright sunny start to the day, nip in the air still.
DH watching tv, I'm enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, will go for a shower shortly. DS1 still in his pit, DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was pork belly, mash, LO veg and some extra carrots and broc and gravy - lovely it was. Tonight we'll be having gammon, egg and chips.
Yesterday we did get some jobs done, grass cut front and back, I made another loaf of bread, I'm hoping that the yeast arrives as it should on or before Saturday. The bread flour I found online arrived on Monday and we took some to mum and dads at a safe distance of course. We also got 2 lines of washing line dried too.
Keep safe and well x

Morning
nanny you win for now
its been deceptively chilly to sit out here the last couple of days although apparently its improving so watch out Im coming to get you
Hope Dad is happy with the shop
Up at 4 today for the weekly hunt for a slot for mum. Grabbed the last one with Asda so she is sorted for another week. For a woman who can't stand any iota of change it must be driving her nuts switching between whichever SM I can get but she's sensible enough not to moan too much atm.
Gers the coat sounds snuggly but the gin sounds more fun
candygirl hope you enjoyed your greggs pasty
I on the other hand managed somehow to split mine so by the end of the cooking time came it was empty.....disappointed doesn't cover it
More exciting plans today ....are you ready?.....I need to clean the shower and of course visit the bins
Hope everyone is doing OK sounds like everyones coping pretty well really.
Ruby your only job is to publish a list to recommended films and netflix series
Take care all

Morning everyone!😯😯
Yep I'm as shocked as you lot, that I'm here this early, but waiting for a parcel, as obviously the postman finds it impossible to read the note on my door, to leave it in the recycling box, even in these times !! All the others seem to manage it ok 🤨🤨

Morning all
Bright sunshine here but it looks breezy as well, not that I shall be going anywhere but I may stroll in the garden, I had an ok sleep but I have to wake every two hours or so to take tablets, DD has set up an alarm on my phone and I find I am just comfy and in a nice sleep and the alarm goes off again, I have some mega strong pain killers from my gp for a back problem ages ago so might see if I can take one of those tonight they are supposed to last 8 hours which would save me waking.
Im going to attempt a shower this morning at least on the lower half and I can do one arm pit the other one will have to stay smelly for a while although I may dab it with a wet cloth, my hair can wait a few days as there is no way I can do that atm.
My lovely mum has made us a steak pie for dinner tonight so OH will do some mash and Peas with it so a nice easy dinner, my sister made us some soup yesterday which was lovely.
I also got a box from moon pig yesterday with prosecco chocolates and a tiny rose bush in from my work friends which was so nice.
I had really funny dreams last night of Camelot being trapped somewhere and phoning me to rescue her, because I cant drive atm Gers came to collect me in my Jamas and dressing gown and we went off to rescue her
weird !!
Nels I started watching something yesterday and fell asleep within moments so it might be a short list ! xx
Have good days all xx13
