Downloading Photos from Samsung to PC

Hi
I am trying to download a stack of photos from my Samsung Galaxy phone onto my pc but must be doing something wrong. I connected my phone to the pc and thought instructions would automatically appear but nothing is happening. Can anyone suggest what to do.

Thanks

On my Moto I pull down from the top of my screen & it says something like "USB charging, tap here for other options" & I tap, because I always do what I'm told, & it gives me the option to transfer files.

Can you log into your google account on both phone and PC to see them?

Browse your files and a new drive letter should appear when plugging the phone in. Browse to the DCIM folder and
copy and paste or cut the files from the phone/drive to your PC.

You'll need to put the phone into MTP/file transfer mode when you connect the USB cable to the computer.
The default action for Android is to just have it in charging mode with no file access to the phone.
See step #3 on this page: https://www.samsung.com/au/support/mobile-devices/computer-not-recognising-device/
Depending on the device you may need to install a driver but you will be prompted to do so when you select but let it do what it needs, and you will then be able to browse the phone to the DCIM folder where photos you have snapped are held.
Dependent on how many photos you have in the DCIM folder it may take some time for them to appear on screen so do not panic if they do not appear quickly. Once you see them you will be able to copy/paste them to your computer like you will do with any USB drive, this will be fairly fast.

Photos sent to you via whatsapp will be in "WhatsApp\Media\WhatsApp Images" folder.
  • If this is the first time you've connected your device to the computer, you'll need to select Allow on the phone screen.
