Looking for definitive info on customs on antique jewelry

Hi All,
I'm looking for definitive information on customs on buying an antique ring from the US and having it shipped over here. I'm reading a lot of conflicting information online.
The ring in mind is from 1890 (over 100 years old).
If I purchase online, what will happen with customs? What needs to go on the parcel? I have read on HMRC website that antiques are not subject to customs and VAT charges if over 100 years old. Is that true?
Thank you!
