Commute from Newtownards

Options
Hi everyone,
Would anyone be able to tell me what the rush hour traffic is like from Newtownards to Belfast?

I am looking at buying my first house and have found an area I like in Newtownards. I work at Queen's University and would usually be in at 8 am and leave at 4 pm.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

    by car or the bus???

Buses use their own fast bus lane from Dundonald and can be as quick as 30 minutes to city center

Thanks. I would normally drive in, but if the bus is significantly quicker, I would be happy to use it.

7.00  am - 9.15 am  and 4 - 6pm is best avoided for car... only 1 lane because of buses

I rented in Dundonald once - traffic's always a disaster through there.  Personally, based solely on proximity and considering your budget, I'd look around Cregagh/Woodstock or Sydenham.  But leave it a year or two...

Glider bus lanes are pretty much all day as far as I know
  • Would need 2 buses - to centre then to QUB (or walk).
Car probably quicker but may be difficult to get free street parking around QUB.

Actually you might be quicker getting off around Connswater/CS Lewis square and using a Belfast bike from there

I used to come in from comber on a wee 125. Great on a dry morning, miserable in the rain.
