Travel Insurance - Problems with Pay Out
Dear Forum,
I was hoping for some help and advice.
My sisters hen do was cancelled to Barcelona. Last year, I paid the full accommodation money online from my debit card; to which others then paid me back at a date that suited. It was for 3 apartments housing 4 in each (there were 12 of us due to be travelling).
I have claimed through my insurance provider (Cover4u). However, they are saying I am only entitled to 1/12 of the total funds? And that the remaining others need to claim separately. How is this possible when the funds left my bank account and the invoice is in my name?
This is of course really frustrating as not only am I trying to fight for the refund for me but more importantly, I now have 11 other people chasing me also.
Any help/advice would be appreciated
Kindest.

The insurance covers you as an individual not the other members of the party. They should all hold their own insurance cover.1

Hi Kates, I guess it is the rules that each person has to make a claim for themselves. Did you include them all on the insurance you took out? If not and they didn't take out their own insurance then I guess they are in trouble.0

Presumably it's because your travel insurance only covers your travel and not that of other unnamed people. In circumstances such as those you describe, it's best to take out a policy that covers all of you. My family travel cover for instance, names all four of us.Kates014 said:Dear Forum,

You've paid a premium that reflects the risk to the insurer of one person. They therefore won't pay out for 11 others who they knew nothing about when you bought your policy.0 -
You could try a chargeback with your debit card company for that transaction, thought it isn't a legal requirement for them to pay you back, doesn't cost you too, so all you would lose is your time.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.
