Hi,
I’ve been self employed for 8 years earning all of my income through self employment. I work in schools so haven’t been able to work since 20th March.

I have taken a job which means I will be employed from mid-May.
Does anybody know if I will qualify for the self-employment backdated pay the two months I haven’t been able to work?

The criteria to be eligible are....Note the parts in bold, do you consider you are still self employed and will continue to be? If so then sounds like you are eligible, if not then you won't be eligible.
Who can claim
You can claim if you’re a self-employed individual or a member of a partnership and you:
- have submitted your Self Assessment tax return for the tax year 2018 to 2019
- traded in the tax year 2019 to 2020
- are trading when you apply, or would be except for coronavirus
- intend to continue to trade in the tax year 2020 to 2021
- have lost trading profits due to coronavirus
You will need to confirm to HMRC that your business has been adversely affected by coronavirus. HMRC will as usual use a risk based approach to compliance.
Your trading profits must also be no more than £50,000 and more than half of your total income for either:
- the tax year 2018 to 2019
- the average of the tax years 2016 to 2017, 2017 to 2018, and 2018 to 2019
If you have not submitted Self Assessment tax returns for all 3 years find out
It is possible to remain self employed and take on a second job that is PAYE.
If you do qualify you get the full payment under the current SEISS guidance it's all or nothing.

I'm in the same position, self-employed and taking up a job - even when there is even a tiny possibility that taking the job could put the SEISS grant in jeopardy, it is quite daunting, because a temp job is not likely to pay that well, may not be that many hours and having even less income than you would have had you not taken the job would probably be disastrous to a lot of people. All indicators point to it not affecting the grant though so it should be safe to take up some work.0
