eBay item received faulty, expensive courier costs - where do I stand ?

This can be a bit of a moral dilemma, if you have to send it back. The seller must have had to pay the carrier to carry the item to you. And they obviously did so. It isn't the carrier's fault that the item is faulty. If you want them to carry it back for you, then they deserve to be paid.

It is great when a seller does take responsibility and sorts a problem out quickly. I have had a similar problem recently, item did not work on arrival so I contacted the seller via Ebay and they refunded immediately and asked if I could dispose of the faulty item. I was happy with this outcome and would have liked to leave positive feedback but the sale is no longer there for me to do this.0
