Silvercrest Cassette Digitiser/Audiolava help

Anyone got a Silvercrest cassette digitiser (SKD1000A3)?   I've installed the audiolava 1 software that came with it but when I choose 'tape' on the home page I get a pop up on the next page 'error whilst recording'  this is before I've even clicked the record button.  Closing the programme I get 'Audiolava is not responding'.    I checked for updates but all I get is an advert for version 2 which they want to charge for!

Personally I would dump the software and use the earphone out to the PC's microphone in.  Use any audio recorder software after that.

What OS are you using?    Windows 10?  tried compatibility mode?

Are the drivers installed?    (not needed to record from the headphone to mic option)

It would appear all that software does is try to be a one stop shop for everything to do with the tape deck thing, which is the first fatal error with this sort of solution:

Audacity may be a better solution, since its actually designed for this sort of job as opposed to doing the Lidl solution and trying to cater for everybody with one stop shops:

I tried compatibility, troubleshooter and reinstalling but still same error.  I've just downloaded Audacity but it seems a lot more complicated than the Audilava but hopefully will get the hang of it.
