Was interested to see the previous post as I received an email today promoting another investment from Anglian Water. I googled their website and found this:http://www.anglianwaterbonds.com

Can we presume that this is genuine, or a clever scam site? Anyone have any idea?

Anglian Water is a legitimate company that issue capital at risk fixed rate securities though not cash savings accounts

However this is an obvious clone scam, somebody purporting to be Anglian Water

You can tell by

1. The childish website whose only purpose is to get you to enter your details
2. The website was registered 3 days ago

With respect, you would need to be a dribbling moron to think this was legitimate, let alone clever. I have seen more convincing emails from Nigerian Princes

Yes you can really buy Anglian Water 6.875% 2023, a bond issued by Anglian Water, a company which is very unlikely to go bust.   The name means it will mature in 2023 at which point  its face value of £100 will be returned.  Up till then it will provide £6.875 per year interest.  Sounds great -  let's all leap in.  It would seem you can buy it from HL and probably many other platforms - no need to risk your money with a scam company which you have never heard of.

One little snag - the bond will currently cost you £118.  So if you held it until maturity you would gain perhaps (I havent done the exact calculation) £20 of interest but you would lose £18 on the fall in capital value.
