Hi all,
Over a month ago i was laid off work due to Corona virus. Im not on furlough so recieve no payment, im not entitled to any universal credit sue to my partner having to much in savings, the only benefit im entitled to in job seekers. However i havent heard anything from them for over a month, i cant contact them on the phone as ive been on hold for 5 hours for it just to cut off.l, I applied again last week but still nothing!
I am down to my last £50 and to make things worse i am pregnant.
Please could someone advise if they are having the same issue, how long it took or any advice.
My partner is great and is paying for everything but i feel awful.

Did you apply for New style JSA https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-jobseekers-allowanceI can imagine the backlogs must be huge because of the current conditions. I don't know how long a claim usually takes, there has been a couple on here recently who have said the same thing. Hopefully it won't be too long before you hear something. In the meantime thankfully your partner has the savings, that you can fall back on.

Hi poppy,
Yes applied for the new style JSA.
I hate that i have to apply for benefits but i definitely dont have a choice at the moment.
I just feel like everyone else is getting help at this hard time except those that have lost jobs and cant claim universal credit. If i didnt have a supportive partner id be screwed!
Thanks for advise and letting me know im not the only one!

There will be a substantial backlog at the moment, I appreciate it isn’t fantastic timing with your circumstances but there isn’t much that can be done to speed it up.0
