Was your overtime set out in your contract as non discretionary or compulsory?0
-
Contract mentions nothing about overtime apart from a full working week most be completed before overtime kicks in0

My own take on this is that "discretionary" overtime is only where an employee is paid a regular salary per month, no matter how many hours worked, but in recognition of say working over Easter the employer says "I know I don't have to pay you anything for working over Easter, but as a thank you here's £500 extra pay". Where you are entitled to be paid overtime under your contract of employment it should be included in your calculation. Others may disagree with me.0

Hello. I am a teacher on a maternity cover contract that ends 31st may due to return of member of staff. I was aware of the date so applied for a number of jobs and joined a supply agency. Due to school closures it is not possible to get a teaching job now.
I work for an academy. Using advice from Martin i asked HR if they could extend my contract and then furlough me. My union says they cant a solicitor i contacted said they can. The DfE advice is about 'extra staff' eg PE teachers paid from sports funding. It also mentions contracts that ended early - but not about extending contracts.0 -
Oops - new to this. Have put comment in wrong place. Sorry!0
