Job Seekers Allowance - not heard anything

I qualify for JSA which I applied for on 19 March and got a text message saying I would be contacted within 7 days. Have heard nothing and it is now a month.  I also tried phoning but keep getting recorded messages and then being constantly cut off.  Anyone got a direct email or contact details for JSA?

I'm assuming it's New style JSA you applied for? The old JSA can only be claimed if you're currently claiming  severe disability premium. For New style JSA you need to ring the UC number and that could be extremely difficult. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-jobseekers-allowance#how-to-claim There's no email address that i know of.

Hey SSX - I have the same problem. I applied for JSA on April 1st and have heard nothing. I tried calling the UC number but kept on being cut off - very frustrating. Have you heard from them since your post?

I am having the same problem. I was due to start my new job on 30 March but this has been delayed so I applied around 23 March for the new style JSA, got a text on 27 March and had nothing since. I called the UC number on Monday, went through all the requests on the recorded message then was on hold for over 2 hours and it cut off.  Incredibly frustrating. Don’t know what else to do.

yes, mine is 'sorted.'  around 3 weeks after applying my first JSA was paid into my bank account but I only realised this when I logged into my bank account a week later so had no idea that first JSA payment had been sitting in my bank for a week.  Then a few days later, the paperwork arrived in the post and since then JSA payments are being made into bank account and paperwork follows in the post. On my paperwork it gives this tel number - 0800 169 0 310.  Not sure if this is the same number you have been trying.  Keep checking your bank account and hopefully it will come through soon.

I applied myself on the 1st of April and still not heard anything other than a text message saying I don’t need to do anything else.

Under normal circumstances it can take about 3 weeks. During these conditions it's probably more like 5 weeks, hopefully you'll hear something soon.

But if s/he applied on 1st April that’s nearly 10 weeks which doesn’t sound right.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

That's true, i forgot we are already into June... time flies. OP i would ring them to ask what's going on because you should have heard something by now.
