Yesterday i gave Loquax a go and compared to MSE its amazing. Very user friendly. I don't honestly believe the problems here will ever be sorted. Its been dragging on for a long time now.

Seeing a few familiar names over there. This makes me rather sad as I've been exclusively MSE since I started comping seriously, but yes, I don't believe the problems will be sorted now eitherIt's gone on too long and without any proper update or timescale from the powers that be. Blaming the Covid situation is pretty irrelevant as these problems were so-say being addressed before it all kicked off.
I'm still popping over here to check, but it feels like the end of a relationship. It's been good, but it's not any moreWorse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."4 -
I'm only dipping into MSE occasionally now, the number of posts has decreased massively and it's now mostly social media and widget comps that I see.
when i first started doing comps on the net I was using Prizefinder, that used to be really good but now it is all about ads and sponsorship, so many comps from sites that are banned on MSE as spam generators. It is one best avoided. I found Loquax a little later and used it a lot until I came across MSE and began using it for most of the comping.
The format of the MSE listings always seemed more friendly and posting the answers was a help in speeding up the entry process, but, there were always features that other sites had which MSE didn't. Still, the people on the site and the banter was good so I generally ignored the shortcomings, until now. Now the board has been made much worse, as many people agree, I have returned to Loquax for most of the comps and check over here for chance there are ones that haven't been posted over there.
This debacle is just another demonstration of the folly of allowing programmers to design something, be it a database or website, In my experience they simply don't have an idea of what is end-user friendly. When designing a website or database there are three important stages. 1 - specification: what features and functions, what data needs to be captured, how does the data interact. the end user needs to be consulted for this. 2 - design: how is the product going to look, what is the layout that is most user friendly and efficient. Again, the end user needs to be consulted. 3 - build. This is the programmers job, to put into action the elements of 1 and 2 and if there are any issues to consult with designer and end user.
This kind of breakdown in process is the very reason I left my last job, I wrote the specification for a new DB, I expected to be working with the developers to draw up a design for the interface but was ignored and my spec was largely ignored so the DB did not work as expected and I chose to walk away.
It probably wouldn't need a massive amount of programming to fix the problems on the board but what it does need is a desire to listen to the users and do the work.
Or maybe it is just better to look for another platform to start again

My first pop back here for weeks and it is a shame to see the changes still have not been made. I am afraid I have migrated back to Loquax and yes it is so user friendly and so time saving as well. You can easily access closing soon but more importantly you can stipulate which comps you do not want to see ie Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc and you don't get to see them which makes working through the ones you do want to see quick and easy. The best things in life are free.....2

Like others I went to Loquax and from time to time stick my head round the door to see if MSE has been fixed yet, I see that it's the same with no change in sight. I too used this site exclusively when I started to comp seriously, I did originally get started comping on the HUKD comping board but they shot themselves in the foot when they did a major site change and told the comping community they weren't going to accommodate their concerns and pretty much overnight the comping board was abandoned, me included I then came here. Looks like MSE have done a similar thing but dangled the carrot that they will put back functionality that was removed, alas it's not happening so they could be in danger of what happened at HUKD happening here too.2

I really miss MSE - I just cant get used to the changes. Ive just been doing some fb and twitter ones that people I follow or friends share. I really hope it can be resolved and we can get back to how it was.

I've had a look at Loquax today, but I can't get my head around how to use it. I will have to set aside some time to have a better look.0
