Balance transfer from one card to another from the same provider?

Hi
I have a virgin credit card currently that the original 0% interest I got runs out on in September, I’ve seen virgin are still offering a very similar card, is it normally possible to take out a second card with the same provider and transfer the balance over?
Thanks

No you cannot transfer within the same group of lenders.

The only way to do this is if there is a Money Transfer option available, if so you could get the cash from one card and then pay off the other. Usually a slightly higher fee than a straight balance transfer however.

It's usually (not always) unlikely you'll get another of the exact same card from the same provider - so you might want to check your eligibility on another provider through one of the many online portals to see what you might qualify for.

Or alternatively you could BT from your Virgin card to another card (if you have one that is 'empty' AND its not a card issued by Virgin) then wait a few days and transfer it back to your Virgin card to take advantage of their new deal providing they are offering one of course which they usually do, I like Virgin they are pretty fair and currently offering me 0% for 24 months 4% fee, not the cheapest fee but a really good length of time. The best way to do this IMO is BT to another card that is offering a 0% BT fee (usually its 0% fee 3.9%-4.9% interest for 36-48 months) rather than the longer 0% interest deal (unless its a good length like 18 months) as that (usually) carries a 2-4% BT fee, end result being you might pay a few pounds in interest but the potential saving is massive!

Not always the case. Lloyds Banking Group allows balance transfers between its own brands, but not to the same brand.
E.g. you can transfer from a Lloyds branded card to a Halifax branded card, but not from a Halifax card to another Halifax card.
