A bank needs me to produce a recent physical bill. It has to be an original, but all my bills are digital. What should I do?

What does the bank say? Are there any alternative forms of identification that would suffice, e.g. HMRC correspondence, etc?0

When you say digital, what do you mean? virtually all the utility companies have the functionality to download a bill in the traditional format and print it.

If you have printed it out yourself, then it is not "original" by the definition these organisations use. Some explicitly say that printouts of online statements are not acceptable.
They want a physical, printed statement, on original letterhead paper, posted to your physical address. Or, an officially notarized copy thereof, stating it is a true and accurate likeness.
Meanwhile, the very same organisations (out of incompetence, stupidity, hypocrisy) are telling customers: Go Digital! because you don't need silly old dusty paper any more, it's inconvenient, it's slow, it's insecure, it's costing money, it's destroying the environment etc. etc.
I tell them the same when nagged about it -- I'll give up my paper documents when you stop demanding them as proof of stuff, and stop rejecting PDF or printouts.
