EgyptAir refund

Opinion please
We had booked to fly out on 2nd May and return on 14th May with couple of internal flights, all with EgyptAir, booked direct on EgyptAir website using Mastercard
Now that all international flights to /from all Egyptian airports are suspended until 15th May, I completed the online form for refund. Egyptair have acknowledged the form without confirming the amount but also stated "Refunds are being processed after resumption of our normal flight schedules" - can they do that?
If not successful with EgyptAir for the full refund, would it be best for chargeback or Section 75 refund request?
Thanks you in advance ?

I would guess as you booked with an Egyptian airline and all flights are within Egypt then Egyptian law would cover your contract, so they can do whatever their law allows.
If they don't paid up then go for a Section 75 as you have nothing to lose trying that.

thanks but we booked London to Cairo with two internal flights so would not EU law apply0

Sorry misread that, EU rules only cover a nonEU flight if it leaves a EU airport. If it takes off from a NonEU airport even it it lands in a EU airport it is not covered.
So if were all singles the only cover would be is London to Cairo.
I don't know the rules if you bought a London to Cairo return, hopefully some else can advise that.

My apologises
No singles
We are London based, it was a holiday booking, London, Cairo, Luxor, Cairo to London0 -
Hi,
Did further reading EU rules will not apply Each leg is classed as separate even if booked as a return.
So the only flight under EU rules was your London to Cairo flight

What the law says and what you can do when the booking is with a company based in Egypt are two different things. Rights are worthless if they cannot be enforced and frankly Egyptair is doing no more or less than 95% of other airlines. Their argument is that they can only refund when they can start sales again, that would suggest their bank accounts are currently empty, they may be but if they have made a reasonable offer, you may find it difficult to succeed in a claim against your card, it is the last resort, not the first port of call.0
