Humax freeview

I've bought Humax t500 recorder freeview box,I've connected it up to the tv with indoor ariel but can't watch live tv let loan record anything, i can watch the apps that come with the box as its connected to the internet. 
The ariel works as i can watch freeview that comes with the tv! 
Is there something that im missing connection wise,we've tried everything that we can think is the problem eg ariel booster 
If anyone can advise that would be great 😃

How are you connected .

Have you tried testing by connecting aerial to Humax only .

Have you connected the aerial directly into the Humax rather than your TV? If not, that will be your "problem" as your TV's internal Freeview tuner is not used by the Humax which has it's own. For the best results, though, you really need an outdoor aerial.
