Hi, just a quick note to remind people to be careful when signing up for headline deals on internet/phone websites.
I recently signed my dad up for Virgin Media broadband & phone deal at a headline price of £27.00 per month for the first twelve months. I had a call from my dad the other day to ask me to check why he had been charged £99 by direct debit. When I looked into this, it seems the default deal only includes coverage for weekend calls to UK landline & mobile numbers, and an additional package needs to be added to include seven day call coverage for £8.
As we are currently in 'lock down' he has been using his phone quite a lot to contact friends & family, (all UK landlines/mobiles), and in addition to the £99 bill, his next bill will be £214.
I appreciate this is entirely my fault and I should have checked the details more closely, but it never crossed my mind that a phone deal would not include making calls during the week. Virgin should change their deals to include 7 day call coverage and allow people to 'opt out' of weekday calls if they think they only need to use a phone at weekends.

Free weekend calls with BB is not abnormal .My BB deal last ten years or so with varying providers has not included free weekday calls .Nor where they ever advertised as such .But you are right so many don't look at what they are buying .0

I was a Virgin Media customer for most of their existence and can confirm that they have never included weekday calls as part of their standard packages.0
