We are paid monthly. I and a coworker of mine have received 2 of the 3 weeks furlough pay in this months pay packet. Our pay varies from month to month and we have both been there over 2 years.
I understand it is the greater of the 2019-20 pay month or your yearly earnings averaged out over the year? For me it was the yearly earnings. For this I took my P60 gross figure, / 12 (to get a monthly average), compared to the gross in April 2019 and the April 2019 figure was lower.
To check against what my employer paid i then took the P60 gross, / 52 (for weeks in the year) to give me a weekly gross as while we are paid monthly, they are displayed on the payslip as week1, week2, week3, week4, week5 depending on how many weeks in the month there are. You'll get 3-4 or so months in the year where there's 5 week months.
My calculation was to the penny a match with what my employer paid me, so no problem.
My co worker asked for me to work theirs out for them. They gave me all the relevant information. The problem is here i can't even get close to what the employer paid them.
Their April 2019 payment was greater than their yearly average ... so different to my situation. Even still, i just cannot get near. We're not talking about rounding up or down or being pence out.
Looking for a bit of help on how to check. They said they don't really want to ask the employer as they're only young and said when you question them on pay the employer goes to town on you over daring to ask. I am much older and have not had this problem although many young people have said the same as the person asking me for help.

Does step 3 of the Government guide help at all? https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/880092/Coronavirus_Job_Retention_Scheme_step_by_step_guide_for_employers.pdf
Aside from that, there should be an online calculator available from Monday.0 -
Are you only including payments the employer is obliged to pay?
Have they worked there less than a year?
Have you check this new page:

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
