Please move to appropriate thread if I posted in the wrong one.

My mam moved out from my house over 2 years ago and all her credit cards are registered here, it's gotten to the point that she has so many letters here that I have opened them all. I told her when she moved out to change her address. She hasn't done this and now upon opening a letter today I got "Moorcroft Debt Recovery LTD" letter. Sounds like a silly question but can I personally ring them and tell them she no longer lives here? As I've had to pay a different debt collector last year.

All credit cards she owns marbles, capital one, vanquis, 188money and New look haven't been paid for a while either, could I also ring them up or send a letter?

Any help would be appreciated.

Just send back as not at this address. They won't particularly act on your instructions but may add a flag to her records.

I'm more concerned about the debt recovery as I don't want them to just turn up one day..

It's not your debt so nothing to worry about. Why did you pay a different debt collector?

Hand the letters to your Mother as well

The debt is registered to my house though, so the debt recovery will turn up at my house and start removing my stuff. Because they were going to remove my valuables.  I've given her previous ones and she just bins them.

No. Debt is against an individual not a property (except mortgages of course).

If anyone turns up tell them she doesn’t live there and provide them with her correct address.

Bailiffs had no right to remove your property for someone else's debt.
Edit: And "debt collectors" who are not court-authorised bailiffs or sheriffs have no power at all.

No it isn't.  The debts are registered in your mum's name. From now on, just return them (unopened) marked 'no longer at this address'.  And keep a copy of your Council tax bill, listing the names of the actual occupant(s), by the front door to show to any 'bailiffs' who turn up.

As stated if its credit card debt it's linked to the person not property. Contact them and tell them she does not live there, you don't have to say you know where, and ask for them to stop contacting her at your address - emphasise they have to stop sending to your address as she does not live there. Make records of when the stuff sent, if phoning note the date and time of the call.

You don't say if you've had any legal letters, but for anyone like bailiff to turn up there has to be a judgment in place. If they know she doesn't live there prior to legal, the courts can take a dim view if they ignore that and continue to pursue at your address

You could contact all her card holders you know about, because otherwise any credit search would show she still has active cards at your address, so for all intents and purposes is still there.

However, you don't have to do any of this stuff because it's not your debt, but if it gives you peace of mind then you can. If you decide to either simply ignore letters or pass them on, if you get any legal letters then do respond to them.

Print some sticky labels up with the words ' Return To Sender Not Known At This Address' on them.
Stick one on the front of the envelopes then cross out the address on the envelope with a bold ##.
Put them back in a post box.
Make sure you cross out the address or they may come back again !!
