Car collection at end of lease term
Options
Hi - is anyone able to offer some advice re my contract hire arrangement?
My old contract ended on 25/3 but the lease company cancelled the collection re Covid-19 (on the day it was due to be collected). They said I can no longer drive the car but have to keep it in a safe place (preferably off-road) and am responsible for it until they can pick it up. They've given me no indication of when that might be. My problem is I can't really keep it parked outside my house indefinitely - I live on a busy street with limited parking and have no garage/off-road facilities. My replacement car was delivered the same day as the old one was supposed to be collected. I know other Companies are collecting/delivering cars so I'm not sure why my lease Company can't do the same, even in limited cases like mine where the person is unable to store the vehicle indefinitely. Also, why should I be responsible if the vehicle is damaged, vandalised etc in the period where it's waiting for collection?
Any advice welcome.
