Making a Large Payment - Safer via Cheque or Bank Transfer?

Me saying it was a loan - not a problem. The loan itself was a personal nature and i am not going to go into detail with the bank to the why and what for. It was many years ago and done via bank transfer. Was never flagged up then on the other end.0

I also disagree with the statement that if people do not want to disclose things then it means they have something to hide. Alot of personal things people do not wish to disclose to banks or other. Things they maybe embarrassed about, like the loan was fora debt. It was to stop losing your house. It was for surgery. gambling problems. couldnt afford to feed my family. endless list0

As a aside, you want to see the references some people put of faster payments, thinking no one but the other party can see.... Got to be very broadminded not to be offended.
To be honest I would expect the OP to be asked what the payment is for (repay loan) and then are they happy that the account details are correct/how did they get them. And that will be it.
It's only when people start to get defensive that further questioning starts to come in. Usually a sign of something to hide or they are being scammed.
Remember that the bank is there to protect your money. People are quick to complain when they are scammed, that banks do not do enough to protect them.Life in the slow lane1 -
Well, by definition, it does. What is wrong is the implication that someone with something to hide is doing something wrong. It could simply be they are embarrassed, or it may be that they don't want to disclose the answers to their security questions.xlnc99 said:I also disagree with the statement that if people do not want to disclose things then it means they have something to hide.
