Your company doesn’t have to furlough you.

Being disabled in itself doesn't make you high risk to covid-19. They are quite correct, if you want to self-isolate then you'll have to look at SSP.

    No waiver.
If he hasn't had a letter then your employer need do nothing. They may let you take unpaid leave.
If he has had a letter then the same applies.

Lots of people in the same position as you have to work. When returning home you need to take extra precaution.

I think the poster is needing help re care for her son if he/she has no one to look after him? Can you not be furloughed for this, as a key worker, or are nurseries not open now  for care for children of key workers?

As a key worker they are still open but it depends how disabled he is to if they can accommodate him or not.

'Child care' also depends on how old the son is - he could be adult for all we know!
    It's not difficult!

I'm sure the 'child' who needs care could indeed be an adult, but why would the op state they have no 'child' care?
Does adding an exclamation mark not come across as rude to you or is it just me.

    They are polar opposites.

Furlough is a sound business temporarily 'laying off' staff they have no work for, no money to pay. Government steps in temporarily to pay 80% wages until the business is active again, the staff are needed again.

The furlough scheme is not some random pot of money to be dipped in for any purpose. Keyworkers are needed to work now if at all possible, there is paid work for them. If they cannot work they need to be on sick leave, annual leave or whatever applies to their situation.
