This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.

Good morning folks.Three weeks in and three more to go!It's a bit dull here though sunshine may be lurking behind those clouds. 🌞 I'll be going out to get some shopping for two elderly friends, just a top up for each. 😇 I've also got an Amazon parcel to collect and a visit to the Post Office is on the cards.I'm taking DM's temperature (and mine) morning and evening, need to be alert for any early symptoms. So far, so good.My car boot declutter has been interesting. Why have I got seven hessian shopping bags, five bags for life and three other large plastic bags? I really need to get rid of some but can't yet. I'm not putting any of the hessian bags in the bin. Mostly I'm still using a big red Ikea backpack for shopping so I can climb the stairs safely. Stairs still prove difficult for me.MOLLY - I really hope you can get away from your fears soon. ❤️Now I wish everyone a peaceful and happy Friday.17

Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Light cloud and chill in the air to start this morning.
DH watching tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk. I found 2 x fishcakes in the freezer so had those with some salad. Yesterday I went to the butchers and bought some burgers, kebabs, chinese flavoured pork steaks and some eggs. This morning I'll be going to the SM for the rest of what we need.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Hope you have a successful shopping trip and get all that's needed. No sun here either this morning and only forecast to shine intermittently when it does appear. So sitting out in the garden won't be on the agenda today sadly. Looks as though the usual Friday Tidy will have to be an alternative. Oh what fun.
I knew I would have to pay for the few decent nights I had. Back to a rubbish one again last night. Bah! Might have to have a nana nap later. Nothing in particular was gnawing at me, just life in general as it is now.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all and stay safe x

Morning All
Beautiful sunny morning, the sun is shining and the birds are tweeting and scrabbling about in the eaves, some of the end caps were blown off during a storm and I haven't been able to get anyone to fix them yet so some crows have decided to build a nest. Nothing I can do, I've been in the loft and they can't get in but they are making quite a mess on the path with their little twigs, etc!
Work yesterday was a complete waste of time, 5 staff for one child who went home just before 11 as he was coughing. I don't know who thought we needed so many staff. On the upside I called at DDs with some shopping on my way home and waved to them. Sophie was sat on the kitchen floor at the patio doors and kept trying to pick up the shadows much to my amusement.
Good of you to do shopping for the others Gers, glad you and your Mum are keeping well.
Hope you are feeling better this morning Molly.
Thinking of you RR.
Our piper did us proud again last night, each week we are seeing more and more people coming out which is good.
Bedding in the wash, hoping to put it back on later. Will have a housework morning, I've been doing so much outside the inside has gone to pot, not helped by the bits of thread all over the kitchen floor from my sewing efforts.
Enjoy Friday, take care. XX15 -
Morning all, thanks for the thread Gers.
We still have sun but quite a bit of cloud and it is windy. I did a lot of tidying in the front garden yesterday and will continue today. I am doing a bit each day, and also need to clean the bathroom. After that I'll read for a while and perhaps continue with my binge watch of Spooks, thank you IPlayer.
Molly it probably won't help if I say try not to worry but hopefully all will be well.
RedRuby, that's good news.
The washing machine is hungry and needs feeding.
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning all.
It's a bit dismal here this morning, but so far we haven't had the torrential rain and thunder we've been promised today.
Oh Gers! I can beat you hollow on the matter of bags. I think I have enough bags for life to equip 200 future centarians.
And that's not counting Hessian bags, cloth bags, leather bags, bags made out of old jeans, knitted bags............
I've not only my own but those inherited from my father and left behind by my DIL and things given me in bags too good to throw away. I think I will have to start gradually feeding them into the bins. I offered them to a charity shop, but they were inundated at the time. I must try a few more.
TA, I can join you on the disturbed night scene. I usually sleep well, but not last night. I know what it was with me though. I usually only eat at breakfast and lunchtime, with a small snack at about 4 ish. Yesterday I had a more sizeable snack at about 6 and spent a large part of an uncomfortable night chewing Gaviscon tablets. I'll not be doing that again.
We had a great clapping session last night. Every week more and more neighbours are joining in. Last night a little boy across the way played his kazoo.
Molly I hope to are getting some help with your problems. Rock bottom is a horrid place to be. There are always people on these forums willing to help, or even just to listen.
Well, I have promised myself that today I will tackle the ironing that has appeared on my to-do list Every day for the last couple of weeks. It's so stupid because I actually enjoy an ironing session when I get down to it. I know it's unfashionable, but I do love putting on freshly ironed clothes or slipping into ironed bedding. And if I have a good programme to listen to or my music on its a thoroughly pleasant way to pass an hour.
Hope all is well with everyone.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Don't forget to drink water and get some sun. Basically we are house plants with more complicated emotions.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all
Dull and overcast here and rain due at 9 for the rest of the day so no Tour De France for me today (a fair weather cyclist !!)
The pre op went well yesterday the hospital was very organised they took your temp as soon as you walked in and they had the waiting room all set up with separate seating for each person and every one in full PPE the staff were fab and doing a wonderful job. On Monday I have to be there at 7.30 but I am allowed no-one with me, I am third on the list, they did say that I would have been first due to the size of the lump but I need to have a guide wire inserted into the cancer first and then I need to go to nuclear meds to have a small dose of radioactive dye put in, this will make my wee poop and tears go blue for a few days afterwardsThe worst bit of all this for me will be the waiting on my own
if I was going straight in I would be much calmer !! oh well nothing I can do about it and fingers crossed I will be home in the evening.
I think I will do a small roast for dinner tonight we have some pork chops to use, there is also cabbage and swede and carrot and some roasties.
I must do a wash today and have a tidy through.
Have good days all and stay safe xx16 -
Many thanks for your kind words.
My GP is very supportive as is my husband so Im very lucky really x
Ruby glad the pre op went well its a similar procedure when I visit the doctors.
Well I've been through my corona cleaning routine - Its all I can control atm - whether it will make any difference remains to be seen.
Hugs for a good day xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.15 -
Hi guys
Haven't posted on here for yonks, but read along every day to keep up with You all
Im finding this whole lockdown scenario very weird. It's like living in suspended time, n I can't imagine things ever getting back to what we knew as normal.
I haven't been in a shop for about a month now , as daren't risk catching anything due to asthma issues.
Luckily have managed to bag slots with Morries n Iceland, so I won't starve just yet 😂 The diet has gone well n truly out of the window though, but it's the least of my worries at the mo.
I'm down to just one dog now.Bonnie is 4 in August, n a proper little Madam. She lost her big Bro Buddy (15) in Sept 18, n sadly baby Zeus (1) in March 19I'm having to be really strong very time I get sent potential new boys for her, as She's not a fan of new dogs in her house 😮😮
I'd love to say I'm busy cleaning and gardening, which rarely happens, but am always cooking as that's one of my ways to chill out .Think I need to join Monna's lazy !!!!!! club 😂
Anyway, enough waffle from me, huggles to all the poorlies n peed offs today xx"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Molly, I will be keeping everything crossed for you, I know how vulnerable you must be feeling with family members going out and not being able to control what they do. We're in the fortunate position that we are very self-contained, my main problem is trying to keep Steve under control. Logically he knows he's very vulnerable if he catches it but he feels so well that I think sometimes he feels he'll be ok if he catches it.
Redruby, I'm glad the appointment went well, I'll be thinking of you.
Gers we're taking our temps night and morning. i'm really pleased we invested in an excellent ear thermometer last year when Steve was having his treatment.
Poor Laura said she had a terrible night, both with Esben and having terrible toothache, she rang a dentist friend to get some advice but I've told her to see if she can get a prescription for some antibiotics in case it gets worse over the weekend.
We've got the Tesco delivery coming this morning so let's hope they send the milk this time. Steve's mastic should be arriving as well so that he can finish the shower cubicle.
Stay safe.
