2009 diesel Corsa - MOT adviceary
Just passed my MOT at Halfords with a few advisory.
Can you advise how serious the work need to be done and what should the cost be in local garage? (Just so I have a ball park of the amount)

Personally, I'd leave it all for now. Maybe do the bulbs, (very cheap to DIY if you can), but even they'd have failed if they were totally discoloured. I had a car with a shock absorber light oil misting come up for 6 years on the MOT until I scrapped the car. Coil springs get surface rust fairly quickly, even from new as they're exposed to the elements.
I'd actually prioritise getting the the oil leak looked at (at a local independent garage if you have one). I have no particular issue with Halfords, but having worked at a fast fit in the past, it seems to me they're trying to get the 'easy' but profitable work out of you.0 -
Of course indicator might not be the bulb and may be the plastic. I am not familier with the 2009. Older ones it certainly was the plastic and a white bulb. Still an easy ebay option if you can.And really do stop going to halfords. Unless you have the 1 in a huindred branch it's wither a bad deal (it passed so seems not), or it's still the hard sell. Especially at this time I woudl think. Decent independents need you more now anyway.I have used a kwick fit, they were good, don't know now though as not used in years (not close anymore, and obviously just did what they did (I do not use a local independent I rated as Meh ok for the same reason, change my bloody timing belt or you are not a real garage, just a half assed do the easy bits). However one garage I did used to use, was a chain, can't remember what. Anyway They often did simple work for free (you know the 2 mins stuff that other garaageas would make you wait and pay a lot for), they they rebranded halfords and because !!!!!!. (yesh not all are, however there I guess the owner with a concience left and they rest thought time for profit.).I understand finding an independent it not easy., I used to be able to cycle home from my old. Since I moved garages it's now an uber (I was suprised I could do that here!). But hey thats good by me to go somewhere I trust.0

I found my Halfords branch reasonable, can't say no to £10 MOT, it wasn't much of a hardsell today, it could be because of the virus, it was just here's the quotation, ring us if u want to get booked in.
I do have a go-to local garage, they kindly fixed my bulb brake light for free.

Ignore the two "corroded" ones. Nothing may happen for years. The shocks and the oil leak are worth discussing with your garage when it's next in for a service. As for the indicators, have a look for yourself. If it doesn't look too bad, ignore it.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
