Someone out there did - and it's on your file. And yes - it can still become a CCJ. Go into your reports and click on the 'dispute this data' type of link and begin the process of challenging it.0

PaulW922 said:I reckon that it almost certainly relates to an insurance product you were paying monthly, and was provided by part of the 'Admiral Group'. Lots of insurance brands are really the same businesses. As to why it has appeared now, it is quite possible that the company in question has just started reporting historic data. I would suggest you revisit your history and try to recall if there were any insurance products this could relate to but which you do not necessarily relate to Admiral?0

Update: Admiral's telephone contact centre was shut, so I messaged them with all the details on my credit report. They got back to me pretty quickly and said they couldn't find an account with the details. Well you put it on my report guys, come on.
After I finished rolling my eyes, I raised it through Equifax as a dispute, so I'm waiting on them now. Will update when I get a response.

Further update: I've logged into my ClearScore and it's picked up on the fact that the account in question has been removed (because it's old). This puts me in an awkward position as I now have zero visibility of it. With Equifax investigating, will they still be able to see it? Will they still investigate it? Admiral denied all knowledge, but I don't want to end up with a surprise CCJ. I think I'm going to try them again.0

If the account defaulted in July 2014 it won't have already been removed due to age.
It will have been removed due to some other reason.
As other's have advised, obtain a copy of your report from Trans Union and Experian too to see whether the data appears on either of those.
If you still have a copy of the report showing the default, copy and paste the account data into a letter, write to Admiral, explaining that you never had business with them and request that they annul the account, and expunge it from your credit files immediately.
Good luck, and let us know how you get on.0
