Good luck! I've been on YouTube for 5 years and I'm not currently monetised - I have enough subscribers but the watch time hours has been very difficult to achieve. That being said, it's different for every channel and making use of a current trend is certainly a good way to get started. Have you thought about approaching other creators for collaborations? If I were in the quiz channel niche I would probably try approaching vloggers and ask if they'd consider doing a reaction video on their channel where they play along with one of your quizzes. In return, on your channel there could be a quiz about them for their audience to try and to expose your audience to their channel. All the best with your YouTube adventure

Thanks for the advice! Collaborating with other channels in the way you mentioned is on my list :-)Decluttering said:Good luck! I did recently make a quiz about dogs and collaborated with two other channels, one of which has mentioned my channel in their latest video. The other channel I collaborated with have almost a million followers and I'm hoping they give me a shout out at some point, but I was just grateful they let me use a photo of their dogs for one of the questions to be honest, though I'm not too sure how to capitalise on that - I didn't specifically request they do anything in return but said I'd be grateful if they did :-)1 -
That's cool, it would be nice if they were able to do a quick shoutout on Twitter or something but I appreciate everyone manages their channels differently. I notice your channel has relatively short videos on it, a lot of monetised creators aim for their videos to be over 10 minutes (as YouTube allow the full range of adverts to be activated on videos that are over this length). A 10 minute video with good engagement will also increase your watch time faster, although it would depend on if your audience enjoys the longer form content. I'm interested to see how your experiment goes, I'll be following alongTriviaDuck said:

Thanks for the advice, I think the nature of my current videos lends itself to a shorter duration, but I am looking at making longer ones, perhaps with rounds of different categories. Lots of options for tweaking etc!1

Update after 60-ish days:
62 Subscribers
9,500 Views
Slow yet steady start!1 -
So I've passed 10,000 views on the videos I've uploaded so far, and have been steady at 63 subscribers for some time now. Need to have a look now at options to attract more subscribers...0

By way of an update, I’ve not got 70 subscribers and views on my quiz videos are now approaching 15,000. But I’m in it for the long game so we’ll see how this goes!1

Not entirely sure why I got marked as spam? Those websites are definitely NOT owned by me for goodness sake, I only wish they were. Yes, I just waited 3 years to post a spam post...!!!!!!.Yorkie1881 said:My job is looking after some of the worlds biggest YouTube channels, I can't emphasise how much tags and hashtags influence views and whether your video will appear in charts, you already know about thumbnails & thats another big thing, create some playlists, reply to and heart comments made on your channel, add info and end cards to draw users to other videos on your channel. Tubebuddy is great, vid IQ is another I use.2 -

Up to 86 subscribers now and almost 20,000 views. A million miles away from monetisation, but it's nice to know there's people out there enjoying my content!2
