Student Accomadation

Hi,
Do you know if there is any help for students who have a final payment to make on private student accomadation? I am a final year student who moved back home early due to the pandemic. My university (UCLan) have informed students living in their halls that they do not have to pay the last installment. However, as I am living in private student halls there appears to be no help like the university have offered to other students. Any advice would be great.
Thank you,
Kerry

Nothing 'official'. Your uni might help, but nationally there is nothing to say that renters can miss paying rent.0

Unfortunately at the moment it's up to you to negotiate with your LL and see if they would accept reduced/no payment. They don't have to accept.

Depends on the wording of your tenancy contract, and/or the flexibility/empathy of your landlord. As a UCL student in your final year, you might want to brush up your spelling a bit before Finals....

Have a look to see what financial assistance your uni is providing for hardship due to the circumstances as many have introduced assistance.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0

Ah! That might explain it then. I'd assumed the UCLan was another typo (UCLon or something)!Comms69 said:

Read through your tenancy agreement with the private company who runs your halls.
You could try and contact them either via email or phone.
You will receive your student loan on the 18/20th of April will you not ?0 -
For many the student loan isn't sufficient and they supplement this with part time work, often in the sectors most effected eg waitressing. If they have gone to their parents house then they won't even be able to get to their part time work in their uni town. Also parents who normally top up the student loan, may themselves be suffering a reduction in income, so unable to support their offspring.dimbo61 said:Read through your tenancy agreement with the private company who runs your halls.
