    Lucky you

Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

Never had a garden, cut my grass for the first time the other day, and now I have 5 bags of grass.
I would be fine to pay for a brown bin however, from what I read you can't just pay for the bin and that's it, they charge you a yearly fee to get rid of your garden waste.
All the recycling centres near me are shut down too.
What do i do with all this grass? will I get in trouble for putting it in my green bin? are there alternative places that usually take them? Or a way to pay for the bin one off and have them collect it like they do my usual rubbish? does it count as littering if I scatter it over a woodland area?
    Thanks
The bin and the yearly fee is about £60 here, paid annually; all grass waste, including grass cuttings, get accepted, collected fortnightly.
You might find that biting the bullet and paying for it is actually the more cost effective method once you sit down and work out time to take it to recycling centre etc. etc. etc.

Also do not forget that now you have started cutting/mowing your lawn/grass you will probably need to do it every other 2/3 weeks through out the summer so it is not just one lot of cuttings to get rid of
Agree, this is the most laborious garden task, it's the edging too because without finishing that off it just looks an untidy mess.

There are a lot of options to buy a bin online- some are bags rather than solid bins. I used to have a green plastic bin but it needs to sit in sun (rather than entirely shade) for the stuff inside to compost in a reasonable time frame.  At the end of the day you get compost but if its entirely grass that would not be a good mix. Mine had paper, card, veg peelings etc (but no cooked food or meat products.)

Round here you are not permitted to put garden waste into the rubbish bin. You could sneak a small amount in- well wrapped- but if the bin is incredibly heavy then bin men might investigate! and bins have been rejected.

Our council is still collecting green waste even 'though the tip is closed.

Luckily my garden is small with wood chip on beds- no grass!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
